Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation member Carolyn Kass Falgout and the Deep South Brahman Association recently hosted a field day for Brahman breeders at K Bar Farms in Tylertown.

The field day focused on the basics of operating a cattle farm in an effort to help new breeders learn best practices, according to Kass Falgout.

“I wanted to provide new breeders with the opportunity to learn about everything from experts in one place,” Kass Falgout said. “It’s also beneficial to have other breeders visit your farm to exchange ideas.”

The field day included presentations about soil samples, available conservation service funding, hoof trimming, feed, legends of the Brahman breed, halter breaking, vaccines, dehorning and field maintenance.

Kass Falgout plans to host more field days in the future. Visit the K Bar Farms website at kbarfarms.com for more information.
