Pack your bags and prepare to travel to Jackson for two full days of important public policy decisions and information during the 2018 Public Policy Summit on Nov. 1-2, 2018.

The Summit will include the Washington D.C. Fly-In to the Farm and the annual Resolutions Committee Meeting. Due to limited legislative days on the United States House and Senate calendars during November, the Federation will conduct its annual Washington D.C. related member engagement activities at home.

“Instead of going to Washington, D.C. this year, we are bringing your elected officials and federal agencies officials to you,” Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation President Mike McCormick said. “We are excited to host our Washington leaders right here in Mississippi!”

The Washington D.C. Fly-In to the Farm will be held at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum on Thursday, Nov. 1. Check in for the event will be at 8 a.m., with the opening session beginning at 9 a.m. The event will adjourn at 2:45 p.m.

Confirmed speakers for the Washington D.C. Fly-In to the Farm include, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker; U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith; U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly; U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson; U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper; U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo; Stephen Ostroff, Deputy Commissioner, FDA; Trey Glenn, Regional Administrator, EPA Southeastern Region; Ken Isley, Administrator, USDA-Foreign Ag Service; and Zippy Duvall, President, American Farm Bureau Federation.

Following the Washington D.C. Fly-In to the Farm, the Federation will host a reception honoring state and federal officials and federal office candidates at the Jackson Hilton from 4 to 6 p.m.

On Friday, Nov. 2, the Federation’s Resolutions Committee Meeting will be held in the Farm Bureau Headquarters’ auditorium. Check in for the meeting will be at 8 a.m. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude following lunch.

Seating and hotel arrangements for the 2018 Public Policy Summit are limited, so please make your plans as soon as possible.
