Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and Mississippi State University will host a Cattle Production Cost Management workshop on December 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MFBF Building in Jackson.

The workshop is designed to provide ranchers, livestock producers and other engaged in the agricultural sector with an introduction to tools for understanding and managing production costs. The workshop will focus on enterprise budgets and tools, break-even analysis, record keeping, cattle nutrition, cost of weight gain, and new tax rules.

“We are excited to host those interested in cattle production across the state for this workshop,” Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation President Mike McCormick said. “With ever changing cattle markets, this workshop will provide some insight on how to effectively manage your costs within cattle production.”

Hands-on exercises will be demonstrated throughout the workshop to better explain best practice techniques.

“We appreciate Mississippi State University partnering with us to conduct such a beneficial workshop for farmers and ranchers across Mississippi,” McCormick said.

To register for the workshop, contact Bill Herndon at (662) 312-0249 or cwhl@msstate.edu by December 7.  Lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
