As young farmers and ranchers across Mississippi manage their operations it’s important for them to gather periodically to exchange ideas, learn how one commodity affects another, and discover they are not alone in their pursuit to feed the world. That is why Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation holds the Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference each year.
The 2019 YF&R Leadership Conference will be held February 22-24 at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Conference participants have an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with others from across the state who share their livelihood and passion for agriculture while gaining valuable information on how to be a leader and an advocate for the agriculture industry.
“I invite all Mississippi young farmers and ranchers and their spouses to attend this engaging and exciting annual event,” MFBF President Mike McCormick said. “We strongly encourage county Farm Bureaus to send as many young farmers and ranchers as possible. Whether they are veteran Farm Bureau members who have been involved with our organization for a number of years or they are young farmers who have never attended a Farm Bureau meeting or event before, we welcome everyone.”
The theme for this year’s conference is “Farm Forward, Engage Now.” Several outstanding speakers from around the country are confirmed to discuss current agricultural issues, the importance of engagement with elected officials, and how young farmers can impact agricultural policy. There will be social opportunities to allow conference participants the chance to network with other young farmers from around the state, including a private dinner at B.B. King’s House of Blues.
Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. at The Peabody Hotel on Friday, February 22, with the opening reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. The conference will conclude on Sunday, February 24, before noon. Casual attire is appropriate for all conference activities.
