Carl Davis Parker knows what it feels like to work hard and achieve success. After working hard and competing in the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers & Ranchers Discussion Meet for three years, he finally achieved success in 2019 by winning the competition.

“It feels great,” Parker says. “I’ve participated for several years so it feels good to finally achieve it.”

Parker believes the key to his success in the Discussion Meet comes from constantly learning while working for his family’s business, Parker Livestock Buying Station. The lessons he learns everyday allowed him to answer the Discussion Meet questions with real-life examples and concerns.

“I grew up on a ranch and in the stocker business,” Parker says. “Both businesses have grown over the last several years.”

Parker traveled to Austin, Texas in January to compete in the American Farm Bureau Federation Younger Farmers & Ranchers 2019 Discussion Meet.
