Representatives from all 82 counties in Mississippi gathered for a County Awards and Recognition Dinner at the 2019 Annual Convention to celebrate their accomplishments for the year.

Outstanding County Awards

During the dinner, an outstanding county was named from each region based on their exceptional accomplishments in all program areas of Farm Bureau, including stars of excellence, raffle ticket quota, 2019 quota, Farm Families of Mississippi sponsorship and safety merit award. One county of those eight was then selected to receive the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation President’s Award, which is awarded to the county deemed to be the most outstanding in the entire state.

Mike Blankenship Outstanding County Safety Awards

The Mike Blankenship Outstanding County Safety Award was created to honor MFBF Safety Director Mike Blankenship who spent more than 30 years teaching people how to live their lives safely. The award is given to the top county in the northern, central and southern districts that has the most safety programs taught by the MFBF safety specialists during the year.

Gary Chittom Membership Awards

The Gary Chittom Membership Award is presented to the County Farm Bureau in each membership category that achieves their membership quota first during the year. This award was established in memory of Gary Chittom, former MFBF Director of Field Services.

J.K. Simpson Memorial Award

MFBF President Mike McCormick (left) presents Stone County Farm Bureau President J.B. Brown with the J.K. Simpson Memorial Award. The J.K. Simpson Memorial Award was created in memory of J. K. Simpson, a longtime employee of MFBF. This annual award is presented to the county with the highest numerical membership gain in last year.

Rising Star Award

MFBF President Mike McCormick (left) presents Pontotoc County Farm Bureau President Neil Huskison and Secretary Beth Smith with the Rising Star Award. The Rising Star Award is awarded to the County Farm Bureau that increased their overall County Farm Bureau Awards Program Application score by the largest margin from one year to the next. The purpose of this award is to encourage counties to review program areas in which they may improve and strive to achieve more from year to year.

President’s Award

The President’s Award is presented to the county deemed to be the most outstanding county in the entire state during the past year by having the highest overall score on the County Farm Bureau Awards Program Application.
