MFBF Extension and Ag Research Award Application 2020

Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) is pleased to announce the second annual awards recognizing one Mississippi Land Grant University Agricultural Researcher and one Mississippi Extension Agent whose work has positively and tangibly affected farmers and the state’s agricultural industry. These awards recognize outstanding work delivered by Mississippi Land Grant University professionals who are actively addressing the needs relevant to Mississippi agriculture and forestry.

The MFBF Award for Agricultural Research will recognize one Mississippi Land Grant University Agricultural Researcher per year for innovative, stakeholder-driven, original research aimed at serving the needs of farmers and ranchers in Mississippi. The winner will receive up to $5,000 in program support, which can fund graduate students or research operations. The MFBF Award for Extension Education will honor one Mississippi Extension Agent per year for developing and implementing successful agricultural programs addressing stakeholder identified problems for farmers and ranchers in Mississippi. The winner will also receive up to $5,000 for programming costs and implementation.

MFBF is currently accepting nominations for these two awards. Nominations must originate from a MFBF stakeholder group, such as a County Farm Bureau or state commodity organization. Nominations require the completion of the MFBF Agriculture Research and Extension Award nomination form (attached above) and two letters of support summarizing the nominee’s accomplishments and indicating why the nominee deserves the award.

All nominations are due by September 15, 2020, and must be emailed to Nancy Britt, nbritt@msfb.org, AND Craig Hankins, chankins@msfb.org.

The winners will be recognized at the Mississippi State Extension Annual Conference.
