With the possibility of two hurricanes hitting the Mississippi Gulf Coast last week, the Mississippi Legislature reconvened on August 24-25. Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann and Speaker Philip Gunn called their respective chambers back to pass a budget for the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. In addition to passing that budget, they reopened grant applications for the rural broadband program, as $1.3 million went unallocated.

According to the previous schedule agreement the House and Senate decided on, the two chambers can reconvene for a total of 6 days during the rest of the year. After using two of their days, the Mississippi Legislature still has the ability to reconvene for four more days to handle COVID-19 related issues before mid-October. Currently, the Mississippi Legislature does not have any outstanding business.
