The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation’s State Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee presents scholarships to deserving agriculture students from across the state each year.

Since establishing its scholarship program, the State YF&R Committee has created eight scholarships – four YF&R Scholarships, the Mississippi Farm Bureau Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship, the Hugh M. Arant Memorial Scholarship, the Don Waller Honorarium Scholarship and the David Waide YF&R Scholarship.

“It is important that we invest in the future, and these students are our future,” MFBF President Mike McCormick says. “We are excited to support them as they work toward higher degrees in agriculture.”

The YF&R Foundation awards scholarships to Farm Bureau member students studying in an agriculture field. These scholarships are designed to provide opportunities to students who possess strong academic abilities and leadership qualities and show a financial need. Four general YF&R Scholarships are awarded each year. These scholarships are open to students attending any Mississippi university or community college.

The MFBF Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship was established in 2017 to celebrate future leaders in Mississippi agriculture. Applicants for this scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture degree at Alcorn State University.

The Hugh M. Arant Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 after the death of MFBF’s sixth president, Hugh M. Arant. Applicants for this scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture degree at Mississippi State University.

The Don Waller Honorarium Scholarship was established in honor of MFBF’s seventh president, Don Waller. Applicants for this scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture degree at any Mississippi university or college.

The David Waide YF&R Scholarship was established in 2011 in honor of MFBF’s eighth president, David Waide. Applicants for this scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture degree at any Mississippi university or college.
