The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation recently hosted a farm tour for the Mississippi Senate Agriculture Committee in the Mississippi Delta.

The farm tour included stops at Ted Parker’s Cattle Farm in Raymond, Simmons Farm Raised Catfish in Yazoo City, Chico Williams’s Farm in Avon, the Port of Rosedale in Rosedale and the Mississippi State University Delta Research & Extension Center in Stoneville.

MFBF President Mike McCormick said it’s extremely important to take legislators on trips like this so they understand the agriculture industry.

“It’s really good to get them out so they can get a feel of exactly what they voted on and how important that is for farmers,” he said. “They can see it. They can touch it. They can feel it. It makes all the difference in helping them feel comfortable with how they are voting or what they might be voting on next year.”
