Voice of Mississippi Agriculture

Safety Programs

The agriculture industry is comprised of some of the most dangerous jobs known to man. Those who work in the agriculture industry tend to begin working at an earlier age, keep working later in life, work longer hours than most and work around more dangerous equipment. The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation’s Safety Department offers an array of safety education programs to various age groups in an effort to lower the rising injury rate in the agriculture industry.

Child Saver Program

Car accidents are the leading cause of death for children under five years old. Because of this, Mississippi laws states all children under the age of four must be protected by a child passenger restraint device or system. Through the Child Saver Program, Farm Bureau offers members the opportunity to order car seats and booster seats at a discounted price. To order, click here.

Children younger than 4 years must use a safety seat or similar restraint.

Children 4 through 6 years old must use a booster seat if they are shorter than 57 inches (4 feet, 9inches) tall, or if they weigh less than 65 pounds.

Fatal Vision / Texting & Driving

Teaches participants 16 and older about the dangers of drinking and driving, and texting and driving by simulating an inhibited state using goggles and golf carts.
