Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation will host a Collegiate Discussion Meet on Oct.12, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Bost Extension Conference Center on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville. A mandatory orientation will be held for all participants one hour prior to the contest at 12:00 p.m.
Eligible contestants include undergraduate students enrolled at a Mississippi college or university who are 18 to 35 years of age as of March 31, 2024. All participants must be Mississippi Farm Bureau members or the child of a Mississippi Farm Bureau member and should have a sincere interest in agriculture. Current members of the MFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee will not be eligible to participate.
The winner of the contest will receive a $2,000 scholarship and a trip to Omaha, Nebraska in March 2024 to compete in the American Farm Bureau Federation Collegiate Discussion Meet. The other finalists making it to the final four round of the state competition will each receive a $500 scholarship. All participants will receive a Farm Bureau t-shirt and a $25 Visa gift card for participating.

The Discussion Meet is an activity designed to build these crucial skills in young people. By participating, individuals build basic discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach a consensus and solve problems.
