Investing in the Next Generation

Foundation For Agriculture

Voice of Mississippi Agriculture

OUR MISSION

The mission of this Foundation is to advance agriculture through investments in educating the next generation of farmers and ranchers, informing the public on the importance of agriculture, providing agricultural resources to those in need, and all other means of promoting agriculture as an integral part of society.

At the heart of our organization lies a profound belief in agriculture and the hardworking individuals who sustain it across our state. We recognize the necessity of transcending past achievements, extending our reach beyond our farms and communities to serve the thousands of Mississippians who need more – more knowledge, more food, more support.

FARMERS FEEDING THE HUNGRY

One in six Mississippians don’t have enough to eat, making Mississippi the hungriest state in the nation. Focused on finding ways to end hunger, MFBF launched the Farmers Feeding the Hungry initiative to offer support to organizations like the Mississippi Food Network, which distributes more than 1.5 million pounds of food and feeds more than 150,000 every month. The Farmers Feeding the Hungry initiative positions MFBF at the forefront of combating hunger and food insecurity in Mississippi, ensuring the health and well-being of individuals and communities across the state.

Scholarships Awarded through MFBF & Our County Farm Bureau’s for the 2024 Academic Year

The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation is committed to inspiring and educating the next generation of agricultural leaders, ensuring the progress and prosperity of Mississippi agriculture for years to come.

MFBF and our county Farm Bureau’s currently awards some $204,100 annually to ambitious students pursuing higher education and training in agriculture-related fields.

These awards increase accessibility and enhance opportunities for more of our state’s aspiring young farmers and agricultural professionals to achieve their educational goals and make meaningful contributions to the agricultural sector.

FARM FAMILIES

Launched in 2010, the Farm Families of Mississippi campaign celebrates the dedication and hard work of farm families across the state. The initiative uses strategic marketing and advertising opportunities to promote the importance of agriculture to the general public, raising awareness about the vital role of agriculture in Mississippi’s economy and culture. Support for Farm Families Mississippi honors and sustains the legacy of Mississippi’s farming heritage and the families who drive the success of our state’s number one industry.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Through the Foundation, Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation pledges to cultivate agricultural literacy through our educational initiatives and scholarships, lightening the load for those dedicated to advancing farming, ranching, and agriculture. We are committed to spotlighting our farm families and their invaluable contributions, ensuring their efforts are recognized by all Mississippians. Finally, we will strengthen efforts to eradicate hunger and food deserts, safeguarding the well-being of every individual in our state.

As we strive to cultivate a brighter future for our agricultural community, the steadfast support of the Farm Bureau family remains essential. Together, we will continue to sow the seeds of prosperity across Mississippi’s fields and beyond.

FARM FAMILIES

The Ag in the Classroom (AITC) program brings agricultural education into Mississippi schools, providing students with valuable insights into where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. The program provides resources for teachers to engage K–12 students in innovative, hands-on learning aimed at improving agricultural literacy. Working with educators and volunteers across the state, MFBF’s AITC staff impacts a growing number of Mississippi K–12 students through hands-on lessons, presentations, and resource support each year.
