Voice of Mississippi Agriculture

Enduring Impact: Gant Honored for Distinguished Service to Mississippi Agriculture

With a career spanning five decades, Donald Gant has been honored with the 2025 Distinguished Service Award. Gant’s involvement in Farm Bureau began with a simple invitation to attend a county meeting—a moment that sparked decades of leadership as a farmer, mentor, and Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation board member.

From the evolution of soybean yields to major organizational decisions like bylaw changes and the creation of Farm Families of Mississippi, Gant has been a thoughtful voice for progress. His service also includes work on the Rice Promotion Board and serving as a trusted advocate for agriculture with leaders across the state. Today, Gant farms alongside his two sons and remains committed to sharing agriculture’s story everywhere he goes. His legacy is reflected not only in the crops he has grown, but in the friendships, mentorship, and leadership he has offered Mississippi farmers for generations.
