Jim Currie Receives Mississippi’s 2025 Leopold Conservation Award
Jim Currie of Pass Christian has been honored with the 2025 Mississippi Leopold Conservation Award®, recognizing his extraordinary commitment to land stewardship and environmental improvement. Currie owns Woodland Cottage Farms, a 1,175-acre pine-grassland ecosystem in Hancock County, where he has spent decades restoring native ecosystems and improving wildlife habitat.
Presented in partnership with the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, Sand County Foundation, and American Farmland Trust, the prestigious $10,000 award celebrates farmers and forestland owners who go above and beyond in managing soil health, water quality, and wildlife habitat.
His dedication reflects the spirit of Aldo Leopold’s “land ethic” and establishes Currie as a leader whose work will influence Mississippi conservation for generations to come.
