Voice of Mississippi Agriculture

The Mississippi Farm Bureau Public Policy Department is responsible for monitoring the impact of government actions on agriculture and for speaking to elected and appointed officials in a timely, effective and united voice. They work with the Mississippi Legislature, Governor’s office and other departments and agencies to promote Farm Bureau policy. Learn a little more about each team member below.

Taylor McNair – Public Policy Coordinator
As Public Policy Coordinator, Taylor McNair works on behalf of MFBF membership as a liaison between them and elected state officials. Each day, she advocates for Mississippi farmers and ranchers through policy research, legislative policy tracking and analysis, and meeting with state elected officials and agency staff. McNair loves that her position allows her to do something different each day.

“No day looks the same! I love that there is always an issue to work on, research to do, and relationships to build,” McNair says. “Whether I am in the office, on a farm, or at the Capitol, I love that our Farm Bureau membership is a family.”

McNair began working for MFBF in the summer of 2017 as an intern while attending Mississippi State University. In January 2020, following her tenure as Miss Rodeo America 2019, McNair returned to MFBF to complete a public policy fellowship. She began working as the Public Policy Coordinator in September 2021.
Currently, McNair spends most of her free time studying for law school. When time allows, she can be found traveling, or attending a rodeo or Mississippi State University athletic event.

Kevin Brown – Policy Development Coordinator
Kevin Brown serves MFBF as the Policy Development Coordinator. In this role, he assists membership in the development of policy on issues that affect agriculture on the state and national levels.

As a life-long Farm Bureau member, farmer and MFBF staff member of almost 9 years, Brown understands what effective grassroots policy can do for Mississippi farmers and ranchers.

“Strengthening the roots of our policy development allows Farm Bureau to be more effective in our advocacy efforts in the legislative arenas,” Brown says. “My favorite part of my job is having the ability to work with the farmers and ranchers of our state to ensure the issues they face each day are being addressed, and that MFBF has the ammunition it needs to work on issues.”

When Brown is not working for Farm Bureau, he can usually be found working on his farm.
“There is no better feeling than to take the Farm Bureau hat off and go to work on the farm myself,” he said. “In my free time, I also like to hunt and spend time with family and friends outdoors.”

Camille Scales Young – Cornerstone Government Affairs
Camille Scales Young serves Cornerstone Government Affairs as a Principal and Director. In her role, she works to support the government relations and legislative efforts of the MFBF Public Policy Team. Young is extremely familiar with Farm Bureau as her first job out of college was with MFBF.

“My favorite part of the jobs is that I get to work with the true salt-of-the-earth people at Farm Bureau, representing the interests of farmers and rural Mississippians,” Young says. “And, I love that every work day is different!”

When she is not working, Young loves to travel, read, cook and watch Hallmark movies.

Drew Maddox – Cornerstone Government Affairs
Drew Maddox serves Cornerstone Government Affairs as a Vice President. He works with the MFBF Public Policy Team to oversee government relations and public relations functions. In his role, Maddox enjoys getting to work with an array of people.

“The people are my favorite part of this job – those I work with directly and those I meet along the way,” he says.
When he is not working, Maddox likes to watch baseball, garden, ride Land Cruisers and spent time with his kids.
