Statement on Make America Healthy Again Commission Report from MFBF President Mike McCormick

“We are disappointed that the MAHA Commission chose to include crop protection products in the Commission report. The crop protection tools our producers rely on have undergone rigorous human health and ecological risk assessments by the Environmental Protection Agency and are deemed safe when used as directed. In fact, the Report seems to contradict itself by including that these crop protection tools were compliant with EPA’s safety limit when last tested in 2023. Mississippi farmers take great pride in producing safe and affordable food for not only their own families, but yours as well. Therefore, our farmers would not use a product that jeopardizes their family’s health and how they make their living.   We applaud U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in vocalizing her concerns with the Administration over the Commission Report and its potential impact to U.S. Agriculture.   We look forward to continuing to work with the agencies and hope that the Commission will yield to the sound scientific principles that have determined the safety of these products.”
